Sometimes I just run across freeware that doesn't solve some great Windows annoyance or such, but it's just plain fun. Pivot Stickfigure Animator is just such a program. With it, you can become the Quentin Tarantino of stick figure movie making. This extremely easy to use software allows you to create stick figure animations via a set of editable frames. There are three included stick figures to choose from (stickman, elephant, and horse), as well as the ability to create your very own stick figures with the visual editor. Your animations can then be saved as animated gifs.

When most people think of puzzle games, they probably think of Tetris. That game alone has been responsible for many sleepless nights and social disorders. Some people are so obsessed that they practically think and speak Tetris. If that's your situation, get help immediately. I'm only going to feed this addiction further by featuring a Tetris clone called Free Tetrix.

You might be thinking to yourself, "So what? I've played tons of Tetris clones before." Yes, yes, I know. This one, however, is actually pretty good. The best thing about this version is the amount of customization that is available to you. Everything from the blocks, the background, the language, the skill level, and the music, is ready to be tweaked. The ability to customize the music is very important because the game comes with a collection of horrific midi files. I was able to go into the music options and throw in my favorite songs to listen to. It's much better to hear the music you like instead of the eardrum shattering "music" that is included. You should definitely check this version out if you are a fan of the famous puzzle game. And in case you're wondering, I still stink at it.

You know, I have played a lot of different racing games in my life. I've driven high performance cars, zipped around in small go-carts, and have even taken part in World Rally races in France - all of this virtually, of course. In all of the racing games that I have experienced, not one has required me to slide down a snow-covered mountain on the belly of a penguin while trying to collect fish, until now. Tux Racer is a game that has you doing this very thing while assuming the role of the Linux penguin.

This version of the game is free and open source - two things that you would expect in a game that features Tux. Start entering the cups to win the title as the ultimate mountain slider downer... or something like that. The game allows you to customize the conditions in which you race, such as time of day, fog, and wind. Collect the herring that are scattered across the course to obtain a high score. More courses will be unlocked once you prove yourself on the slopes. Tux Racer is a nice game that has been around for quite some time. It's perfect for young kids due to the fun and wacky atmosphere that is present. Was it only me, or did I just see Bill Gates on the side of one of the courses with a sniper rifle in hand?

{Game} The game developers of today really pull out all the stops when they craft the latest games, but sometimes it is fun to revisit the 'olden days' of gaming. A good example of this would be the classic Pong, which has been nicely reworked using Windows XP styling in the form of Powerpong from 1-abc.net software It features a savable high score list. Now what you have to ask yourself is: is that really old time arcade like, or what? Just bear in mind that what may seem to be a simplistic game to modern gamers actually takes downright fast reflexes to master. So go old school; get out your flat rectangular racket and have a hand at Powerpong!

{Game} One of the most popular games released by famed Windows game publisher GameHouse! In Super Bounce Out, you must bounce out balls by arranging them in lines of three or more of the same colour. You can swap two balls that are next to each other (touching), but at least one of the balls must form a line of three or more balls of the same colour. You receive more points for getting four, five or more balls at the same time. You also receive bonus points if other balls lines up and bounce out as a result of your move (in a chain-reaction). To move on to the next level of play, you must remove the required number of balls, as indicated in the "Balls To Go" field, before time runs out on the fuse. Those ominous black balls are bad news. Can't click 'em, can't lick 'em. But if you run out of moves, they mercifully pop out, too. If you still have no moves, even after all of the Black Balls pop out, you lose. Tough luck.
