{Batch renamer} This utility from Denmark provides options for renaming many files at one time. When I take photos with my digital camera, it uses the "IMG_####.JPG" naming convention. Not very meaningful, is it? I usually download a batch of photos from a specific event, so having the files renamed to "eventname_dateincrementalnumber.jpg" would help. A nice feature is the ability to view the renaming before pursuing the change. Not only does it do renaming, but also new case (lower, upper, mixed, etc.), remove, list, replace, add, and attributes. You can save the new naming pattern for later use. I would prefer to use incremental letters as opposed to numbers, but for the price - I've no complaints. |

After locating a .doc file larger than 1M, I dragged and dropped the file on the chainsaw and the program promptly went to work splitting it into four files and one .bat file. Occasionally, I lose the original word processing file with the work and get stuck with the PDF format, unable to copy and paste the material. Grudgingly, I retype the portions I need. This program takes the PDF file and puts it into HTML, a format which can be copied and pasted, and preserves the original page layout as close as technically possible. It can also convert PDF files to CDF (Catalog Data Format) and generate HTML files from CDF. Software like Clickcat P2H will probably get attention, as many use PDF files to avoid works being copied or stolen. The name Clickcat is ironic since it almost sounds like copycat. Video clips aren't displayed or interpreted in the same way, and codec takes care of it. Find an AVI file and drag 'n drop the file into GSpot, which outputs all of the information in its dialog box. Look in "Video Format" for Status to see if the codec is installed or not. If it's not, then you need to obtain the codec listed. If a codec isn't available for "Audio Format," there may be no sound.
