{Translating garbled URLs} TransURL is a little utility that removes escape codes in Web addresses. Escape codes are three character codes beginning with % making the URL look trashy. It's annoying when you click on a link to arrive at a Web site with something like this in the address box: http://64.4.8.250/cgi- bin/linkrd?_lang=&lah=06a9b8d78f4c4dd1fc74161a7cad31da&lat=9612887 97&hm___action=http%3a%2f%2fwww%2escreaminet%2ecom%2f%7etswirsky. Icky, isn't it? I wouldn't want to copy and paste such a URL to send to a friend or to save in a document. Furthermore, if you bookmark the item or add it to Favorites, the URL may not work. The small utility cleans the garbled link and provides the escape code-free result in the window. In this case, the mess becomes a nice clean http://www.screaminet.com/~tswirsky. This program is written specifically for Internet Explorer and tested with version 6.0. The author can't make promises how the program will behave with other browsers. Hey, it's free, why knock it?

Webmaster Password Generator is a powerful and easy-to-use tool to generate large lists of random passwords. The passwords can be based on different criteria, including length, upper and lower case letters, numbers, special characters, and even custom strings. The generated passwords can be copied to the clipboard or saved in a text file (one password per line). The program is suitable for home users to generate a few passwords, but it can also create lists containing thousands of passwords to be used with ISPs, Web sites, etc.

Website Mentor allows you to easily create a personal or business website with little or no HTML knowledge required. It provides a set of templates that you can use as a base for your site, and then fill in further details and content with the included editor. To create the site, you start by providing same basic details about the site (name, slogan, logo, etc.), choose a template design and select the pages to generate (contact page, about page, gallery, etc.). WebSpy is a small tool that lets you find Web servers and automatically resolve their domain name (if any). It can start on a given IP address and automatically scan a specified range for responding servers. If found, the domain name is resolved and added to the list. Useful to find out what other Web sites are hosted by the same ISP, for example. The results can be automatically logged to file, and you can resolve a domain address to IP or vice versa.

WhosOnline is a simple server/IP address-monitoring tool with messenger-style interface. It resides in your system tray, monitors the specified IP addresses, and alerts you when one of them goes offline. It also keeps a history of events, so you can catch up with them if you were gone. You can also open the entries via HTTP, FTP, or File access. Easy to use; basic monitoring.

WinGet is an easy-to-use and small download accelerator that speeds up your download time by splitting the file into multiple threads while downloading, thereby maximizing the potential of your Internet connection. The program can integrate with popular browsers and automatically take over the download for selected file types. WinGet is a good, basic download manager/accelerator. It lacks some advanced features and does not (yet) support cookies or authentication, so you could run into problems with some sites

One of the biggest problems with similar OpenNap applications is trying to decide which servers to search on. WinMX solves that problem by automatically logging you on to a few. If you find others that you want to use, you can add those to your auto-log-on list later.

The program can also track and resume broken transfers and shut down your computer after it has downloaded your chosen files. You can check the Hotlist to see when your favorite users are online. You can also configure the Share settings to establish which files you're willing to give to other users.

LSP-Fix is a free utility to repair a specific type of problem associated with certain Internet software. This type of software is known as a Layered Service Provider or LSP, a piece of software that can be inserted into the Windows TCP/IP handler like a link in a chain. However, due to bugs in the LSP software or deletion of the software, this chain can get broken, rendering the user unable to access the Internet. 

LSP-Fix is not a malware removal utility and does not target specific products. LSP-Fix does not delete any files.

Before Downloading, read this:
There is a known issue with using this software in combination with obsolete versions of Lavasoft's popular AD-Aware utility. A known issue in some versions of AD-Aware results in improper removal of pests such as New.Net, CommonName, and WebHancer, resulting in lost Internet access. If LSP-Fix is used subsequently to repair these errors, the system may begin exhibiting crashes in MSAFD.DLL and/or RPCSS. This can be fixed by performing a "hard restore" of Windows' networking components. These things can also be done by hand but if your expertise on computers is limited, these are the better effort than me explaining in detail, how to conduct a Winsock repair.
