I always reckon
that the truly great Win98 freeware applications can be counted on the fingers of one,or
maybe two hands,but I think there is now another strong candidate. I refer to
"Image Co-Tracker" which is a tool for creating databases of Internet
images,using IE5.0 and above. It automatically captures the image,the address,its name and
the date.You can add comments and categories,organize,send by e-mail,sort,print and
much more.It has a pleasant interface,is easy to use and seems very stable.The basic
technique is to place the cursor over the required image,rt. click,select "grab
image" -click, and that's it! But,as I mentioned,there is much more to this apparent
little (523kb) gem, so go visit www.cogitum.com

app. that instantly opens up a large thumbnail in Windows Explorer simply by placing the
cursor over the filename.The freeware version opens jpg. and bitmap files only. It's at

I expect you remember I`m quite an Opera browser fan and rarely use IE, but
we`ve been running (believe it or not) the Mozilla v1.1 browser for some while on our
PC-my good lady not being too impressed with Opera's quaint little ways! It is,to me
anyway,what the new Netscape 7 should have been-that is, no Time Warner/AOL baggage what
so ever-but even more usable and for us anyway, quite stable. I`m trying, just for fun, the
very new "slimline" Mozilla browser-"Phoenix". It`s based on existing
Mozilla code and although only up to v 0.4(!)-seems a darn good effort, and has given no
real problems in day to day surfing. Maybe the folks at Opera had better look out! All
open source and free, as you know:

EC3 Burn dump sensitive files from your system for good

This is a UK site and requires that you fill out a registration form before downloading
the freeware.
My researches have uncovered this neat little app. Its called " EC3" ,
and seems to provide high degree of encryption and security for both text and image
files,which are stored on a fixed drive. Each chosen password generates a unique key, with
a user selected degree of
encryption,depending on your level of paranoia.This key,it is recommended, is kept safely
on a floppy,thus requiring the insertion of the floppy, plus the password entry, to access
the file,which is then opened in its associated application. Upon closing the
application,the open file is re-encrypted.This is only a very brief guide to its uses,but
the rather daunting and comprehensive help file tells all. Its available at
